ANEXCAL Botanical Report - Subject X-39

Multiple reports about X39 have been filed to date, each of them postulating a novel theory about what might be invisibly contained within the pelago-shaped extrusions upon them. While the chemical reaction behind the bioluminescence of this sample remains unknown, I would humbly suggest that we not race to conclutions that some undetectable substance within the extrusions must be responsible

While all of us have been frustrated by the limitations of our equipment and an underwhelming prioritization for the study of plant life both within Scientific Command and ANEXCAL in general, we cannot connect two unknown factors simply because both of them are unknown. Even if there is an undetectable substance within the extrusions, it may be entirely benign or even counterproductive to the organism itself - we know nothing about how natural selection functions within Calyx, or if such a perspective is even valid to begin with

As MEERKAT reminded us when we made landfall: We must see our inability to make assumptions as an opportunity rather than a limitation.

Sincerely,
Lt. Terence Davies (HORNET)

Pelagoshrooms were small, strangely-patterned fungi native to watery areas of Calyx. Expeditionary scientists who examined the bulging extrusions on their undersides were suprised to find nothing inside, with some theorizing that a separate organism may be growing within them in a way that defines conventional measurement or understanding.
